2015 Albums of the Year (Honerable Mentions)

Posted by JamesDrawsLewdThings - December 12th, 2015

I figured I'd go ahead and make up my own list for my favorite albums to have come out in this calendar year of 2015 (keeping in mind that all of my choices pretty much fall under the metal genre and its various sub-genres).

I'll be going a little bit at a time (depending on how much I have to say about the album in question) so that way you won't be reading exceedingly long paragraphs.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

  • Disturbed-'Immortalized'

-This one caught me by surprise, honestly. I lost interest with this band shortly after I left High School. Their music just started to feel too samey for my tastes. That, and it was around that time that I started shifting more toward progressive metal acts. Immortalized still has that same problem in a number of the songs, but I managed to find a few surprise hits (The Vengeful One, Fire it Up and their cover of Sound of Silence being standout tracks). It didn't exactly put me back into the camp of Disturbed fans, but I got some enjoyment out of it.

  • Straight Line Stitch-'Transparency'

-A common theme you are going to see in my "Top List" is that most of the albums on my list are from bands I have never heard of and simply listened to them out of curiosity. Straight Line Stitch is one of those bands. I decided not to put this on the official list simply because of it's short length. It feels much more like an EP than a full-fledged album release. Never the less, if you are into metalcore and female singers that can seriously growl and scream, than give 'Transparency' a shot.
